The Missions needing a victory turned the ball over to one of their best pitchers this season, Jeremy Hefner, and he didn't disappoint Missions fans at Wolff Stadium Wednesday night as his solid performance helped lead the Missions to a 2-1 victory over the division leading Midland RockHounds.
Missions RHP Eric Davis no-hit the Midland RockHounds for 5 innings before allowing a hit in the top of the 6th inning as he picked up his third win since joining the team as the Missions beat the Hounds 8-3. The Missions win over the RockHounds helped the Missions close the gap as San Antonio only trails Midland now by three games with six to play.
Missions Pitchers Simon Castro and Jeremy Hefner have been named to the 2010 Texas League Post-Season All-Star Team as voted on by the coaches and media. The pair have anchored the Texas League's Best pitching staff all season long.
The San Antonio Missions won their second straight game Sunday night against the Corpus Christi Hooks 5-3 behind the great performance of Mark Hardy during his Double-A debut. With the Midland RockHounds losing to the Frisco RoughRiders the Missions are now three games back.
In what has become a habit between the two teams, the Missions held on to beat the RoughRiders Thursday night in their seventh extra-inning affair of the year, in front of an announced crowd of 5,458 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.<
FRISCO-The Missions chances of a fourth straight season to make the playoffs looks to be slipping away as a leaky bullpen couldn't hold a three-run lead and the RoughRiders snapped an 8-game losing streak to San Antonio Tuesday night in front of 4,312 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
